Some scenes and parts of scenes from THE LION IN WINTER.

As great as this movie is from beginning to end, the best scenes are those where Peter O'Toole's Henry and Katharine Hepburn as Eleanor "go picnicking on each other." These are their scenes, either together or talking about each other, from the first half of the film, in order.

This is way too long to be a trailer, but I made this mostly for people who are already fans of the film, to show to their friends who've never seen it.

Enjoy.

Look around YouTube. For a while, the entire movie was available here, though I imagine that didn't last long.

  • For all you youtubers under the age of 40 methinks that thou should view this film at all costs. I'd forgotten how awesome this film is. Hepburn as Elanor is simply amazing and Peter O'Toole is pretty good too as her counterpart. Hepburn is the greatest actor (male or female) ever. Her ablilty to command a stage is unprecedented and ANY thespian today couldn't hold her jock on Kate's worst day. God bless you Kate for all that u did.

  • Two brilliant of acting in the same movie, surrounded by a stirring supporting cast. This movie is like watching a great Shakespearean play without it actually being a real Shakespearean play.

  • @jlmww Remember Gus Van Sant's "Psycho" remake? What exactly was the point of that? How many remakes of the beautiful Anne Bancroft-Patty Duke film "The Miracle Worker" have there been now? I've lost count... and oh WHY did they remake (in 2007) the riveting, heartbreaking Sally Field-Joanne Woodward tv-film "Sybil"? Stop me, someone!!

  • @TheCatgirl6

    Ooooo, very well said.

  • @jlmww That's a very good point, especially considering that LION began life as a stage production. I remain wary of remakes, though, because in too many instances they simply aren't as good and feel like vanity productions for actors and/or directors looking to piggyback their professional reps onto a superior original.
