  • Just because you were helped, does not mean that I was not hurt.

  • Packerfan, I never said the work was punishment. You're putting words in my mouth. What I said was that telling mentally ill people that their OCD is the result of sin is wrong. I don't need to be in a facility for more than a week to know that that's abusive counseling. Just because you stay in a concentration camp or an abusive relationship for a week does not mean that the relationship isn't traumatizing. Just because you were not yelled at, does not mean that I wasn't.

  • I did know that clients were called students, though they should be called patients, since His Mansion claims to offer counseling. Who cares if you weren't yelled at? I know plenty of people who were, and while I'm grateful you didn't suffer at His Mansion's hands, you should not try to minimize what other people went through. I was there a week, not 2 days, and I only left because the staff was screaming at me to repent. You have no idea what I went through, so don't speak for me.

  • Frankly, Mr. Maurer, I find that hard to believe when your page has in the past said it hired Westminster Seminary grads. And I don't think His Mansion's going to change until Stan is totally divorced from ministry operations, for reasons you and I both know. And I doubt that will happen. To be honest, I just don't trust your assertion at this point. And it certainly was not true of my experience, which was nouthetics based.

  • I think the program has become more streamlined and effective. Granted they don't have al the resources available to a place that charges several grand a month, per patient, they do have a methodology that works. I spent 2010 there and changed a lot about my life. Im still the same person but Im sober and have a relationship with God as well as an understanding of why I do what I do. Also met the love of my life..not too shabby!

  • A lot about the program has changed since the early 2000's, a lot of new staff really changed the way things run. I am sorry your experience was hurtful and I am sorry that you had to experience that. However, I disagree that anyone would try to make the residents/students think they have to work for punishment reasons, it's because it's part of how the community runs. From all my experiences the heart behind this ministry is to help people not to condemn them.

  • i was there from 89 to 90 and stayed the whole time expected and generally i found it to be a good time except when i was put in the pit to shovel animal poo bent over in a small space for an hour and had a friend there who has a chemical imbalance and went through the same problem as you and falling asleep working and did not get the proper help he needed but i do not regret going there.

  • the work we did was never a punishment i felt that it was a good way to work since i was able to go to his mansion at no cost,it was a very family ministry we had family nights ,bible study's and private study time as well as 1 on 1 couseling.i saw many lives transformed by the word of God and people who were active in there own recovery ,it is a loving community where people supported 1another1 another.and no 1 was forced to do anything against their will.people have to work at their problems

  • i was at his mansion for 2 yrs 1 as a student thats what we were called which the man in the video didnt know, and 1 yr on staff.as a student i was never yelled at but counseled by some1 who went through an extensive training process.i dont believe you can get sound judgment if you were there for as few as 2 days.our work schedule was more like 4-5 hours not 8 as was presented in the video.when i was there the mansion was run by a group of Godly men not just Stan Farmer alone.
