In this first movement of the famous morbidfest Mr.M. sounds more convincing than anybody simply bacause he makes it more tragic. You basic Romanticism works, but only he seems to know how to pull it off, never mind all those aspiring Romanticists out there.
Yes,it was my first recording of this concerto and I would love to find it again.Unfortunately it was LP!Great pianist and I am happy that you like him.
Thank you very much for this video. Wonderful Chopin. I also appreciate on youtube a pianist called Nuccio Trotta. He's unknown but I'd like to invite watching his performances because I think that's a pianist worth listening in to. Thanks.
I can't believe that I listen at a recording of Malcuzynski!!About 13 years ago i listened the 1. Piano concerto of Brahms with him on the piano,it was my favorite recording of this concert for years!!This recording of the chopin sonata is also amazing!!Amazing pianist!!

I have four discs on vinyl of Witold Malcuzynski, who died in 1977. I must get busy and digitize them. All Chopin:
-- all 4 ballades
-- all 6 polonaises
-- all 14 waltzes
and best of all
-- 16 selected mazurkas, a wonderful record.
Malcuzynksi was a personal pupil of his compatriot Ignacy Paderewski.
