A high definition showcase of the freeware Mt Everest scenery created by Frank Dainese. Please note that that it's just the ground scenery that's freeware, The clouds are by REX [Real Environment Xtreme] which is payware.
You can obtain the files from Flightsim.com or Avsim.com - you'll need to sign up 1st (it's free). Go to the scenery library & search Everest - There's 2 zip archives to download. You'll need to extract the files using a program like winzip or winrar. If you don't have either of these, go to download .com & search UNZIP, you will find several freeware extractors.
Instructions are contained within the readme file in the zip, but in brief, simply copy the main folder from each zip to your FSX/addon scenery folder. Then when you start FSX go to the scenery library [from the settings tab] and add the 2 new folders.
UPDATE: When I made these clips I forgot to install the high resolution mesh and because of that the mountains look a little too smooth & rounded. I've re-installed the mesh & it looks much better now. I may remake the video at a later date. For now you can see the difference by looking at my older FSX Everest video [see the video response to this].

I don't know if these are optimal but they seem to work for me in most scenarios. I generally like high traffic levels - it's amazing how many commercial airliners I see flying overhead when I'm flying round Everest, but I use Traffic X AND some WOAI traffic so it severely hits performance around major airports.
Can someone please tell me the name of the piece and the composer? I always remembered this tune, but never the name of it...

@marty051892 : It's in the red box @ the start ;)

Excellent video, but the compression used for the music track hurts my ears. Honest.

@Dalekv : Thanks for the comment. I think you mean the screeching sound? That's wind/engine noise from the game - you still hear it when the music goes silent.

@Mat7Sohai : It's a Soviet Russian piece so I'd say more Lenin than Hitler ;)
