nice technique, i do the begining of thrusting lance and glancing lance the same except i pull the knife to the hip (technique dictating which side hip) before the headbut, i learnt it from mo teague a world renowned s p instructor on a face the blade seminar for bouncers, if you pin the arm first instead of grabing you can apply it preemptively against concealed carries and as the blade is drawn.
@Kenpohi I do that too--hip levers--but in the States the knifer is likely to attack with his other hand, and I've seen knockouts happen when the defender is overly occupied with the knife in the attacker's hand. I saw 2 people get knifed AFTER they've been KO'd.So I nuetralize all options from the attacker almost instantly but prioritize any weapon first. That's why I spend such time nuetralizing and manipulating the attacking hand, posture and the "live"/empty hand almost simultaneously.
@ATACXGYM there is a massive increase in knife attacks in the uk so i know you are right about watching for the other hand, thats why my preference is the outside line (like yourself) so i can bar the knife arm elbow with my hip (cancelling the left hand), then head but, and maybe follow with glancing lance, or stick the blade back in the attacker and go for raining lance (which can also be used preemptively at the carry/draw stage once the knife hand is pinned)
@Kenpohi All of those assessments I agree with,my Kenpo brother.I like using knees elbows head butts, sweeps trips throws tie ups joint locks traps chokes gouges rips and the like in close, and I am very good at kicks...I just don't show too many in the beginning stage videos that I put on YT because I don't want somebody who's insufficiently trained to try it.I tend to precede my head butt with a trap (so I don't get countered) and follow my head butt with a hand tech in order to maximize damage
