Shiver// Summer Girl

Move over Jacob Black, there is a new werewolf in town!

I can honestly say after reading this book that I will never be 'Team Jacob'. I have now completely converted to "Team Sam." Shiver is an incredible book written by Maggie Stiefvater. She writes extremely well and at times the book is almost poetical. The book revolves around Grace, a girl who at a young age was attacked by the wolves that live in the forest behind her house. The pack dragged her off the swing in her backyard and she believed she was going to die until one yellow-eyed wolf stops the others and allows her to return home safely. Years later, Grace still looks for the yellow-eyed wolf who every winter stays just beyond the border of her backyard watching her. After a local teen gets attacked by wolves the police go into the forest to hunt them down. Grace races into the forest after them in an attempt to protect the wolves. When she returns home she finds a boy with yellow eyes wounded on her front porch. She realizes who he is. Sam, the wolf, lives two lives. As the weather gets colder he turns into a wolf, abandoning all human emotions and forgetting about his human self. With summer he returns to being a boy and loving the girl he once saved. As summer wears on Sam realizes that it is his last season as a human before completely turning into a wolf. Grace and Sam must race against the weather and other opposing forces before the cold hits and Sam is lost forever.

Read this book! Even if you are not a fan of Twilight and the whole werewolf scene you still need to read this book. I couldn't put it down! The poetic writing adds warmth and romance to the cold and dark plot allowing Grace and Sams love to grow and develop. If you love Twilight, City of Bones, Great and Terrible Beauty or just want a good read, this is a must-read!

Music: Fateful Meeting by James Newton Howard (who is just a little bit amazing :) ) from the King Kong soundtrack.

Notes: The bluish scenes represent the cold and Sam being in his wolf form, the warmer colored clips represents summer. The lyrics that are on the page are from a song Sam writes for Grace (his summer girl) when he realizes he has only a small time left with her before he is completely wolf. The ending will make more sense once you've finished the book (soo sad!) Also, sorry from the crap quality of my intro. I haven't been able to get my old clips and videos back from when my computer crashed so i had to download it from an already uploaded video.

and it's nice to finally read a guy's comment. haha. I'm absolutley addicted to Maggie Stiefvater's words. she has that effect on me. I seriously feel like I belong in Sam and Grace's world. Too bad they're turning it to a movie. I know it'll suck and ruin everything! :|
