One of Britain's most popular wrestlers, the unbeatable bone-crushing force of Giant Haystacks, who stood 6ft 11in & 45 stone or so at heaviest. The greatest! (more)
ITV tried to pass the production cost of televised wrestling on to the promoters the two biggest being Max Crabtree and Brian Dixon but they refused and it was taken off the air. That and washed up old duffers like Big Daddy turned British wrestling into a joke, tragic really as there was at the time credible workers who could have made wrestling good again in this country. Instead it became a cash cow for the heartless promoters.
Yeah - the Loch Ness matches were terrible though, I wish he could have done it in the early 80's. He apparently refused all offers for years because he didn't want to uproot his family. Check out his stampede tag match with Dynamite Kid and the Harts
Rodney John Woods.....sounds like a judge summing up prior to conviction :) Who exactly are Mick Manus and Gaint Haystacks? Never heard of them sorry.
I think British Wrestling went into terminal decline when Big Daddy didn't retire. I wisj Haystacks had been able to have a crack in America in his prime though.
Big Daddy might be old and overweight but he's still really quite strong and when he fight's smaller guys he's actually very impressive!

Giant Haystacks did eventually wrestle for WCW as Loch Ness and was scheduled to fight Hulk Hogan but his career was cut short due to cancer
