Gordon B. Hinckley, the prophet, seer and revelator of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints passed away on January 27th 2008. These are some pictures of him to remember him by, accompanied by me playing 'We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet' on my ocarina. It doesn't sound so good because I don't have a high quality mic, but oh well.

  • This is just a nice little video, about a man who stood for good and right. He lived his life dedicated to Jesus Christ and His teachings. Nobody has to believe it. This movie was just made for people who wanted to remember him and the life he lived.

  • Only 500 characters...not enough to list the conflicts in your statements and or questions. But that's ok since it is abundantly apparent that you are not looking for answers, just discord.

    So...this cat is moving on.

    Good luck to you.

  • You said you'd tell me "what I can do to be happy" if I answered your asinine questions. Oooh, can't imagine why I didn't jump at that chance! Sure, Moses made mistakes, he was human, but he wasn't caught lying, so far as we know... Adam? Seriously? Not a real, historical person, but an allegorical character. Noah probably the same, since the flood story doesn't hold water (snicker) and has all the earmarks of being another allegory.

40 "selfless" years? Is that all?

    Not from UT. DH great.

  • LOL

But you, you Trilli, didn't answer my questions at all! People who go looking for an argument suffer from things such as repressed anger.

You also exhibit those classic conditions of someone living in a sinking barge on that famous river, you know dee one, dee nile.

You sought out conversation about something that you wanted to argue about, when no one had even expressed an interest in talking to you. So what's really on your mind? How's your husband doing? How 'bout those Utes?

  • You didn't exactly answer the questions - classic. There is no evidence that he made any prophecies, therefore he was not a prophet. Prophet in this case was just a title.

I am happy, very much so. I don't allow cult leaders to make decisions for me! Living an authentic life makes me happy, even in the midst of periodic adversities (like being laid off and trying to sell a house). Doo doo still occurs, but I'm in no need of antidepressants, like too many Mormon women I know!

  • Golly Trilli, it sounds like you're not sure he was/is a prophet. You can know beyond doubt that he was a prophet and that President Monson is a prophet. btw, did Moses ever make any mistakes? Or Adam? Or Noah?

Also, can you tell me if you have spent 40 years of your life selflessly serving others?

Answer me those questions and I will tell you what you can do to be happy instead of feeling as you do.

    .

  • Just out of curiosity, what were some of his prophecies? In what way did he act as a seer, who according to definition can see into the future? Did he in fact fortell the future? I've never seen any evidence of this.

Given that he was hoodwinked so thouroughly by Mark Hoffman, I was just wondering.

  • I sure will miss the guy down here, but man, I can't imagine his reception in heaven. I agree with the song fully "We Thank thee oh God, For a Prophet" and I am thankful that it could be president Hinckley through most of my life so far
