I've been taking ballet classes for almost two years four days a week, and my teacher told me yesterday that I'm ready to go en pointe when the class begins in the fall (we don't have have rolling admissions) but she flat out told others that they are not ready at all. What I noticed between the denied girls and the chosen girls is the the amount of ankle, leg, and core strength, amount of turnout, maturity, dedication, and foot flexibility. If you are lacking in one of those areas, work on it.

wow that was helpful :) i was 3 when i srtarted and then stoped at 7 and then i started again but only for about a month then when i was 10 i started and now im twelve and im inlove with ballet and im like you i sit there and watch pointe all day. im in grade 3 ballet so im behind and my teacher said grade 5 or 6 ballet to go on pointe do you think i could damage my feet if i went on pointe now (even though i probobly cant)

what if i danced ballet ages 3-6 and then danced jazz 6-12 nothing 12-13 and musical theatre and lyrical 14-now. Im 16 and we do barre every class. Im joining another studio also ( this one is strictly ballet) how long do you think it would take to go on pointe? My teacher says i have great feet...?

Hey!! I'm 12 and I'm in lyrical and this Tuesday (January 3rd) I'll start ballet. :) I'm really excited!!! Instead of making me take ballet 1 my teacher is letting me skip two levels and be in ballet 3 (we go by ability at my studio.) I really want to be en pointe!! I have a strong core and strong legs. I just wish I could take pointe classes!!! But I can't until I'm in a few levels up. I wish I could show my teacher that I could go in a higher level. I'm kinda more experienced than I sound...I

Wow! All your videos answer all my questions! I've done dancing since I was 3 for 13 yrs, I'm 16 next week. I do jazz, tap, contemporary and I started ballet in September, 4 months ago. I was told I could go en pointe after Christmas but I didn't know if I was ready. It turns out I have strong ankles and great arches and all the rest. I have the requirements you listed out which made me glad. I got my first pointe shoes 3 days ago and start in Jan. Seeing your video has made me happy to start!

@GammaBunny101 yay! another figure skater! thats why i started ballet too(doesnt every skater? lol) but my rink closed for most of the year & most of muscle is gone(but im getting it back!)

i don't know much about pointe, but it bet if youre good & can remember the stuff(my problem) then i bet you might be able to do it soon :)
