And no, he wasn't clipping it between his thumbs either.

I'm afraid your as far as you can be from figuring out how Dai does this trick. No tenkai palms were used, in fact no palms were used at all. I find it laughable that people on YouTube like to "explain how tricks are done" when they don't have a clue. In fact.

If anyone wants me to expose how any other Dai Vernon effects are done, just ask and I'll post all the methods and secrets for you :-)

@generalgibberish This isn't much of a secret. The Tenkai and very similar moves are very angle reliant. Watch this from the side or slightly above or below and the card will be flashed big time when it is supposed to be in its hidden location.
In a sense this is a good one for the camera; the camera angle can be controlled to suit angles.
Anyway, I have exposed loads of effects on You Tube & elsewhere. Especially crap ones like this which has limited performance conditions.

@CaraBrimleyRules Well it WAS special till you blabbed to all here how it's done! I never said i didn't know how, & one of the cardinal rules of my beloved art of magic has always been to not tell the secret, & i have verrrryyy little, actually NO respect for blabbers of our secrets on the net or elsewhere! You, & others like you, rank ,& i do mean RANK!, right up there {actually DOWN there!} with the masked magician & others of his icky ilk & are a traitor to the art! Grow up!

@generalgibberish When the card is pushed down behind the left hand, it's actually being turned lengthways, towards Vernon. The short edge of the card is pushed against his left palm, held there by his right thumb on the other short edge. Now the card is behind the hand, parallel to the floor.
This is not about video editing, simply angles, where the cart is held end on to the audience a bit like how the Tenkai palm works. I'm sorry but this is nothing special.

When the card is 'pushed down' behind the left hand, it's actually being turned lengthways, towards Vernon. The short edge of the card is pushed against his left palm, held there by his right thumb on the other short edge. Now the card is behind the hand, parallel to the floor, held by tension between the hands.
Then the real genius. The turn. He folds his left thumb down before he turns his entire left hand, transferring the card edge from his left palm to the outside of his left thumb.

The card's held against his head by the back of his hand.
