With the theme "Knowledge that Works: From Theory to Practice," the 2011 ASTC Annual Conference featured more than 100 sessions, which highlighted how science centers and museums are putting new ideas to practical use to serve their communities. The conference was hosted by the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore, October 15-18.

I admit to ignorance when it comes to quantum levitation so I turned to previous comments in search for some enlightenment. What a huge mistake... I certainly did not expect to see posts for and against theism and much less moronic and/or vulgar remarks. I assume the latter are from simplistic people who have nothing of worth to add to this thread..

electromagnetic induction. think of when you have a magnetic field perpendicular to an electric field. you then get a force. this force locks the object in position. as it has no resistance, it does not decrease in strength. fairly simple really

The reason the magnet kept spinning is because there was (close to) zero friction and resistance. Put an electrical load on the coils and it'll stop the magnet right in it's place. Until the magnet is moved again by an external energy source (a jet, your hand, a motor, mill, what have you.)

You cannot get something from nothing.
