  • Nice tone, you've got the Desmond sound down pat. :)

  • @GenuineHeather, That means a lot coming from you..... wow some nice playing from a true pro..

  • as good as ever. but i agree, you gota slow down on bits of it. Especially the first half?

Nevertheless, your interpretation of it i guess, and it was good.

  • fair point, I kept making mistakes on the bridge, and this was take 10 or so, I was getting frustrated, thats when I rush. I chill a bit towards the end. Not my best work :-)

  • I love this... Sounds so great... Thank you for posting, I enjoyed this, really!:)

  • cheers, love the clarinet playing on your video, nice stuff!

  • that is some tone right there

  • HOLY CRAP this sounds WAY similar to Paul Desmond.. One tip: if you want to sound even more like him, mic placement is very important too. If you place the mic farther back from the horn, like 3-4 feet away, it'll help take the brassy tone out and give a fuller sound like the desmond sound you might be trying to get. the air works as a "filter" and takes the brassy sound out. but if you like it, then props to you! i like the tone ALOT, just was giving a little suggestion. This is FULL of emotion

  • Defintely one of my favorite tones out on youtube... from one Sax player to another... great job

  • Very Nice!! I haven't played in 10 years and I'am trying to re-learn everything from scratch.

I really love this Desmond tune after hearding it played on streets of NYC (where I grew up).

Hope hear more tunes from you....any pointers????

  • @crazydaisydoo You're too kind. :) And don't sell yourself short, you've got gorgeous tone and musicality. I've heard a lot of players with great technique but lousy sound. You can learn technique but if you have no musical sense to begin with...what's the point? I'd much rather listen to you than some of the "pros" I've played with who are all ego and no substance. Keep doing what you're doing!

  • @kkcolgin

Honestly reeds don't make any major difference apart from cane and plastic. Try out a fibercell, vandoren, la voz, and my fav. rico royal (jazz, its in a blue/black box)

  • I'm sorry, I missed the type of reed your using. would you please say it again? (sorry) I'm using a 1939 Buescher Aristocrat Tone master Alto with a Buescher true tone -plastic and a Otto Link Super Tone Master #6 they both sound about the same. the reed selection is frustrating. Could you help? I've been thinking to just make my Owen. Thanks Kerry

  • Where did you get the backing? I noticed it excludes the 87 measure drum and piano solo... which is nice!
