I heard a CSX coming into downtown Orlando from Sanford on the A-Line, so I took up shop on Antique Row near Lake Ivanhoe. I was messing with the camera and turned to make a shot looking south, and an Amtrak appeared out of nowhere. I was lucky and only wish I could have had the spot a few blocks away where the locos passed. Anyhow, it was a treat. Included in the shot is the new cantilever signal CSX installed while upgrading the line for commuter rail.

  • I guess that this was taken at Orange Avenue! Nice video!

  • Orange Ave it is! Nice place to get a shot. Thanks!

  • Note the comment I made up there was not a request or an order it was a suggestion.

  • No prob! I will eventually land up there. Seems like I have been everyplace else except Winter Park Station. It's definitely on the list.

  • It would be nice if we could have a minimum speed limit of 60 mph all the way from Longwood to Kissimmee the way they do on the FEC line in South Florida. It would help ease traffic problems and Im sure it would help the commuter rail project.

  • i was in orlando last week heard a few trains dint end finding them went i trolley and lynx bus bashing lol

  • how many trains goes thru the area a day?

  • what time des csx go hrough downtown

  • Um, just to let you know between Kissimme and the Orlando stations the speed is 60 mph from what I've heard. Even though I would agree, but some people in Orlando will take chances to go around the gates while they are down.

  • By the way someone her should try chasing a train from the taft yard all the way to the Winter Park station. Most of the time Orange Ave. does not get a lot of traffic.

  • On Saturday i was at Orlando and caught the Silver Star. After it left there was a freigh train right behind it (about 200 yards). It glided up to the sation and began accelerating.I chased it until I got to the crossing just before the Winter Park station.
