I never said it was unsafe to ride on the public road - I said "arterials" were unsafe because of their design. 90% of the roads out there are perfectly safe. The biggest thing to promote safety is to get as many cyclists on the road as possible, so motorists get used to them being there. Cycling is safer than ever before, but the media cultivates an image of danger, and people buy into that.

So fear is discouraging cycling? Aren't you as well when you say that it is not safe to ride on the public road?
