1st Day Mourning - Wenchuan Earth Quake, China

China on Monday began a three-day national mourning for the tens of thousands of people killed in a powerful earthquake which struck the country's southwest on14:28hr Monday,May 12,2008.

At 4:58 a.m. 7 traditional days later according Chinese custom for mourning, the national flag at the Tian'anmen Square in downtown Beijing flew at half-mast after a complete flag-raising ceremony.

About 2,600 people watched the flag-raising ceremony in the square.

"I have been watching TV to know the disaster situation these days," said Yu Huilin, a 58-year-old retired teacher. Yu just arrived in Beijing by bus in the early hours on Monday from eastern Shandong Province.

Up to 80,000 less now..the numbers are growing..it is mother nature's way of thinning out the land!

After more than 2 weeks, the chances of finding more survivors are diminishing by the hours if not by the day. All those physical loss, destructions, damages and etc can somehow be replaced or substituted, but emotional scars are difficult to heal or may not be healed at all. We need to pray for them a spiritual & emotional healing, so that they have the necessary physical and mental health to face whatever challenge ahead of them.
