Over Easter 1998 the first public display of rebuilt Polikarpov I 16 WW II fighters displayed at the bienial Warbirds over Wanaka New Zealand. Mark Hanna flew in Number. 4 which is shown in this video clip. Mark was killed after landing a Hispano Buchon ME Bf 109 in Spain in 1999 prior to displaying at an Air Show.

  • Great video. My late father in law was an aviation mechanic during the Spanish Civil War 1936-1939, on the Republican side. He serviced those Moscas as he called them, and kept a leather helmet and gogles given to him by a pilot before the war ended.

    He said the little plane did dispose of many Franco aircraft, because it was extremely maneuverable.
