The Red Cross is one of United Way of Greater High Point's 29 partner agencies. Red Cross's Emergency Assistance program provides assistance to the victims of disasters, large and small, to make sure they have their emergency needs met - food, clothing, a place to stay.
A Disaster Action Team (DAT) made up of local volunteers, trained in disaster response, are always ready to respond to the next incident. On average, the Red Cross will respond to 60 house fires each year in the High Point/Davidson Co. areas and are always planning, preparing and practicing to respond to a larger disaster. Whatever the disaster, they are responsible for responding and providing emergency assistance to the victims. If the disaster is larger than their resources can manage, they have the resources of our neighboring chapters in the Triad, the state, and across the country to come to their assistance.
