@CenaTv2 To really appreciate this music, I think that you must know something about Glenn Miller and band(s) that he organized; his arranging skills as well as his trombone playing. His band was THE most popular band in the United States for nearly all of it's 4 year existance. His clarinet led reed section sound was innovative for the time and has become a timeless signature of the entire big band/WWII period. Glenn also disbanded to join the Army in Sept 1942, feeling a sense of patriotism.

i really don't understand whats so good about this music

I too, recognized the pianist in this clip as Henry "Hank" Mancini. I also knew that Art (or Artie) Wagner replaced Henry at the piano chair. Art was my Dad. Contact me thru Facebook if you'd like. Looking for more video that might have my Dad at the piano, with Tex. ~barbara w.~

It's very interesting that you know this second fact. The only reason that I also know it is because Art Wagner told me so. He was a friend of mine whom I miss. Maybe you knew him too. He was a great musician.

He was replaced after a few months by Art Wagner.

Just imagine hearing Glenn Miller or Tex coming through on a tube radio. Those old tube sets had a kick we lost when everything went solid state.

Now hear this. Listen to People Like You And Me:
When Tex Beneke takes in i'm pretty sure that Paula Kelly is in too. Notice the different female voices at 2,:25 and 2:28 ?
Marion was slightly out of tune in many songs, but she's so charming that we forget it !
Yep that's the tape.
I call the band AFF no.2
sometimes they out-swing a AAF arrangement, mostly they don't! But some terrific Airchecks out there
