I got boo'd when I announced the last song of the evening, which means everyone is sloppy or I had a solid performance - or possibly a combination of both :) This event had 370 guests, but there was no "predominant" age group - which made it hard to get really deep into any set of music. I played a very wide variety of tunes, including all of those interactive songs we love to hate.

And yes, I am very short (check out the Cupid Shuffle Sequence and you'll understand what I'm saying)

I took a couple of months off this winter from DJ'n weddings and really had time to reflect on how I can improve my service and set myself apart from the oodles of DJ's in the marketing. My main goals this year as a wedding DJ is to become more interactive with crowds and to work on beatmixing music throughout the entire event. I'm far from a crowd mover and far from a mixmaster, but with only 4 weddings down so far this season - I think I've made leaps and bounds from where I was at a year ago. Set goals and go after them, it makes you excited to do your job.

  • SOLID IT WAS DUDE

  • You did great!! You can't satisfy everyone instantly, and you're not a personal iPod for each person. You learn and move on. Keep doing your thing.

  • I thought the song choices and mixes seemed fine. It's those people who don't want the party to end that make all the fuss, they never tip anyway. I usually play "Closing Time" near the end or "Kiss Him Goodbye"(na na na na-hey hey hey) Then people know it's coming, or I get them to chant "one more song" Booing is uncalled for.

  • Love the look on the old dudes face at the end CLASSIC!!! And awesome job man ven the lights show looked good

  • @ExoticSoundz lol

  • They were all tipsy and they just wanted more or most likely just drunk.

    Good music though.

  • is that the marathon case?

  • great video!i am 14 and have been teaching myself how to dj and i recently purchased 2 technics but i was wondering if you had any advise on software, i have vdj but i was looking into serato or tracktor.

  • Just a tip man- it seemed like you faded out right in the middle of a song- could that have had something to do with the crowd's response? I find it odd that a crowd would boo any DJ doing a good job- which you were clearly doing the entire time. If nothing else, write it off as too much liquid courage for the crowd and revel in the fact you made money having a good time!

  • Not a huge fan of the Ice Ice Baby to Sexy Back transition - I think there are quite a few songs that would go better together. You did an excellent job!
