On Wednesday, Abkhazia put on a welcome for a Russian warship arriving in its capital's port. The flagship cruiser 'Moskva' dropped anchor in Sukhum, and joins two other Russian vessels in the town's port. It's hoped their arrival will ease locals fears about NATO's increased presence nearby.

Moskva is a highly equipped guided missile cruiser. It carries conventional weapons and is capable of carrying out electronic warfare. But its current mission is to observe the situation and provide security for Abkhazians.

Abkhazians continue celebrating the republic's recognition by Russia and they're hoping their independence will also be accepted by other nations. But as NATO increases its presence in the Black Sea, Abkhazians are worried. Local authorities hope the presence of Russian ships will help allay fears among the population of the region.

Abkhazian president Sergey Bagapsh went onboard to greet the sailors personally.

Two smaller Russian vessels are also docked in Sukhum sea port. Locals came with their families to see the ships. They thank Russia for its support.

  • Shumeshi, unlike in Russia, the date of design doesn't mean anything in the United States.

Every single piece of American equipment contains state of the art technology and state of the art capabilities.

No country is going to design new military hardware every year that costs billions of dollars. Design is made intelligently and upgraded when necessary.

  • Shumeshi, Putin has massacred over 200,000 innocent Chechens, being killed even today, and has assassinated numerous journalist critics and political opponents. Politikovskaya was even cynically murdered on Putins birthday.

Now Putin has an aggressive policy of war against Russian neighbors, and is attempting to annex foreign territory.

To claim 9/11 was staged by Bush is not only insane, but an utterly pathetic claim.

  • @ketieB - You're 100% correct. I think anyone with even half of a brain knows its nothing more than a joke. Pure propaganda at its best - yet for some reason there is no shortage of fools in Russia to believe it.

  • @mattmatt115 - LOL, you're far too ignorant to even respond to. sad.

  • @Iverielii Ummm Putin rebuilt Russia, thats why Russians like him? Where big corporations buy up US Presidents, they try with Putin and get nothing but a steel door in their face

This is why leaders love Putin

Putin is no more genocidal than Bush or Obama (with his ability to assisinate American Citizen SWEET)

  • At least they tell facts, unlike your fucking Rustavi, which only tells us about Saaka's erotic fantasies.

  • Russia today is pure propaganda. Nobody takes it seriously.

  • The Russian government has already poured more than $100 million into Russia Today, prompting charges that Kremlin sponsorship affects its coverage. Andrei N. Illarionov, a former adviser to Mr. Putin and now one of his critics, last year called the channel Russias best propaganda machine for the outside world.

  • Well insane or not, but everything is possible, however insane it may be. It's always bad when innocent people die and let's not look at just one side of the coin, U.S. is killing civillians just as well. I don't know the numbers and it's not really appropriate to count who killed more and to say that they're worse. No one has good enough reasons for doing that.

Ahh... Let's just wrap up with this never ending conversation. I wish you all the best.

  • Shumeshi, you are quite mistaken.

NATO was created during the Cold War, and this was not against Russia, but against the Soviet Union and its threat on independent nations.

I consider the entire civilized world: United States, Canada, all of Europe, Australia, and all of their allies.

This makes up 80% of the world powers and economies, and also makes up 99% of civilized society.
