That is exactly what I thought when I watched this. Old school priest from the time when priests were in line with progressive issues and the people.

The word "illegal" means against the law. It has nothing to do with calling them immoral. I know hundreds of legal Americans who are poor, sick, old and can't afford a better education. Illegals compete with them on every level. They drain the social programs, raid the food pantries, fraudulently apply for all manner of Government and Catholic Charity help. So basically...this guy thinks that the legal poor should suffer because he's twisting the concept of what's "moral" to him.

Father Creedon is basically saying, out if sight, out of mind.
Keep the immigrants out with stricter border regulations, but until then be humane to the illegal immigrants.
