  • I guess music contests are good to get people out and about and showcase some talent but they should not be taken too seriously. Music is a creation it should be about having fun and playing and making sounds together. Coming from the heart and soul. My personal view is we worship the stars way way too much specially in Rock etc. Listen, enjoy the sounds let the music send chills down your spine.

  • How many folks competed in this? I ask because there's quite a disparity between this style of competitive play and what I see where I live, Tennessee. What I see here is more of a "just sitting around and picking" style. That's fine and it's fun to do. It's just not what one would see in any flat-picking competition here. Just wondering...

  • Epiphone Masterbilt and a Martin D 18---Both good guitars played by good pickers--

  • Thanks. Those are our fishing hats and I'm not sure why we wore them to the contest that year. I believe it was really hot. I'm playing a D18, Steve is playing an Epi Masterbilt.

Yeah, this was really mostly just for fun, as many have already pointed out we're not really Bryan Sutton level here or anything. I haven't played the last couple of years. They'e upped the ante now and are attracting big guns (like Roy Curry who won this year) so I don't bother anymore.

  • @micmoable looks like a martin, but there are so many copies these days

  • @flatpickjohnny Ageed, love it, lol its all about the love of the music

  • @flatpickjohnny you are so right---good music soothes the soul and gives you such good feelings---why worry about commercializing it so much---

  • good pickin fellows--funny hats----what's the type guitar the fellow wearing funny hat in first segment is playing?

  • Good picking fellows--funny hat! What make and model guitar is that one funny hat fellow is playing? I think the other guy is playing a Epiphone Master Built guitar

  • Goodpicking fellows--funny hat!

  • you guys are super consistent its great sounds good!

  • yer darn tootin'
