I am having problems in how to count the eighth notes, but now that you explain it so well, I'm going to open my book and continue practicing! Yeah... I'm teaching myself with a book...

Hi Lypur, I think what you're doing is a God-send. I appreciate it! I've been teaching myself for 3 yrs now--not getting anywhere, but your lessons will help. my problem is that I don't know how to count and keep the beat. It seems that I can't count outloud or in my head, I can't tap my foot and I can't train on a metronome because those things make me either lose count or forget what I'm playing. Any suggestions on how to get your brain in gear to count? Thanks!

I have a question on how you tell, when reading music, how you're supposed to play stuff like C4, C1, and blah blah blah. Are you supposed to just pick one that you think sounds the best?
