This is me playing bleed by Meshuggah. (no edits or over-dubs)
I manage to keep 4/4 time right till the end bit (watch my right knee)

What a killer song to learn!
I hope the quality of the vid is ok.
If not..

You can download the file (for free) to watch, click this link;

I've uploaded it as 480 x 368 at 512kbps 30fps-Mp4 and audio at 128kbps 48khz-AAC. It's only 35Mb in size but the quality of the video is way better than the Youtube version.

  • Cool to see another Bleed cover, I think they're quite sparse cos not many people actually own 8 string guitars. You certainly got the sound down really well. I'm still working on building up the tempo! One day I will finally learn it in its entirety!

    Nice work!

  • Hey thanks.

I think the sound of my guitar and amp sucks a bit compared to some. (like 1 that's not rusty)

I would like to see another guitarist post it done in one take without any cut-to's and editing!

Doubling guitar tracks and touching up the audio after recording kind of deceives people if it's not mentioned.

I like to see the 'warts and all' in a performance.

I must recommend watching the better quality download I put on Rapidshare of this too.

  • hey men, good playing 5*

    what tunning do you use?

  • Cheers mate. thank 4 the encouragement.

Fattest string tuned to Bb and from there I tune same intervals as normal Gtr.

Used Boss pitch shifter pedal down a fourth to achieve '8th' string for Nothing and Obzen stuff.

  • awsome playing, can you make a vid on how to play that intro? 5/5 btw

  • I'm putting together a 'my tips' vid - it wont cover everything that's for sure, but it might help someone out there. It'll be a few days till it's finished.

Hope you get some use from it.

    Thanks again dude btw.

  • @fernanties cough* cough* no you cant lol

  • its not bad but you should have done the triples alittle better but not a bad job at all.

  • he must have some heavy fucking strings then lol. you can play this song in D# tuning on a 6 string, you just have to play some notes an octave higer. theres only a few that go below D#

  • F standard... i know that sounds fucked up but its a half step up from an octave downtune hahah

  • so whats the tuning used for this song on a 6 string guitar?

  • looks like he did tune down. But you can tune a standard guitar up a half-step and play Meshuggah's 8 string stuff. F, B-flat, E flat, etc... It's an octave higher.

  • Must've been loosyloose stringystringies :> Nice picking technique BTW!

  • nailed it dude, nailed it..

  • One word: Excellent!
