Vlog #1: The 5 month Struggle

Though none of you care, I get bragging rights for reviving a seemingly dead laptop.
The Operating Systems I tried:
Windows Xp (too slow)
Xubuntu(gave me weird errors)
Fluxbuntu(gave me more wierd errors)
Damn Small Linux (Froze when trying to load some drivers. Froze when I told it not to load the drivers)
Puppy Linux (don't quite remember, must have involved weir errors)
Windows 2000 Lite (Installed, but I could only use about 2/3 of the screen and was limited to 16 colors, and the drivers to fix this only worked with '98)
Windows 98 SE (At first did the same thing Windows 2000 did, but I installed a bunch of drivers and it worked fine)

Ha. I have a Tecra 8000 too, it's a fun little machine. And the obscure graphics drivers don't help. :D I've found Ubuntu GTK 1.2 Remix to run very well on it, but that CD doesn't install to the hard disk, it's only a live distro, though there is an install script for it...

I'll have to try that now. Do the obscure graphics drivers get in the way of the Ubuntu distro in any way?

hello we hav the same one...but my laptop now seems to hv a problem coz everytym i open it, it keeps on beeping and i rely dont know why.. theres no display... cud u help me guys wats the problem of dz ????????

Try Windows 2000.

Occasionally in IceWM I get corrupted window titlebars... I would recommend installing INX Linux. It's a great way to learn to use Linux!
