July 28, 2010 - More sample footage from the Canon Vixia HF-M31

This time the footage is straight from the camcorder. It wasn't converted to an MPEG video file. It was captured in FXP 17 Mbps mode. There was a UV filter over the lens. Settings were on auto/default. This is the actual file from the camcorder with the .MTS extension.

The footage was done indoors looking through a window. The window wasn't perfectly clean but it was mostly clean.

When the camera movement is kinda blocky when zoomed in, it's because I was using the IS Powered(stabilization) button. It's not a drop in frame rate. It's the camcorder trying to keep the visual view still.

  • i have the same one but im still trying to figure out if you can buy a fisheye for it so i can use in my bmx videos?

  • @ASJJProductions There are fish eyes available that can be attached like a filter. I haven't tried it before so I don't know which ones are good. There are companies other than Canon that make them. I don't know if Canon makes any fish eyes though.

  • i wish gas was still $3.19

  • @949rocco Me too. I think I remember when it was between 2 and 3 dollars.

  • would make sense. Just wanted to make sure. I have heard in the past about certain cameras making noise while zooming and the onboard mic picking it up. Thanks for the reply

  • @tas9195 This camcorder does do that and you can heard the zoom mechanism if you turn up the volume and listen carefully. But it's hard to notice if you're not looking for the sound.

  • As long as you can't notice it if you are not looking for it

  • @tas9195 If you mean the tapping noise, I think that was me. I don't remember exactly what I did to cause it. My camcorder might have been hitting the window. I think I kind of remember that. I think I was trying to have the camcorder against the window for stability.

  • what is all the clicking from, is it the camera or is it you making noise?

  • @orangewitness Okay thank you.
