How very kind of you to post this just hours after my mentioning Sultanov's performance of this piece! As I listen to this piece, I feel as transported as I did that night when he played it in San Diego! He was seething with this raw, yet somehow controlled fury. He played without any mannerism; his hand movements were extremely economical. There is a quivering, though not tawdry, eroticism in his interpretation, as well as a state of 'suffocation in ecstasy' - just as Scriabin had described it!
