On 26th July 2010, at approx 1502, we see 71000 Duke of Gloucester, making a very appropiate trip, departing from Gloucester, seen here storming up the Lickey Incline at Vigo Crossing, then over to Nuneaton, Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Kettering & finally London Waterloo.
66050 "EWS Energy" was provided for Banking Assistance, although 050 is not one of the dedicated Lickey Bankers.

I would like to thank robmasterman for his assistance in helping me choose a suitable external microphone, as used in this video. Although the sound quality is now improved, it has added extra weight to the tripod head, therefore meaning a not so easy to pan tripod head, thus the wobbliness reflected in the video. I am working to improve this by buying (in the future) a proper video head, when finances permit.
I would like to also thank HST43077 for a great day, and also to dedicate this video to MG06ZT who unfortunatly couldn't be in attandance, who has supplied me with great information. Thank you to all the above!

  • Great video.

  • That was just awesome!

  • @AndreiTupolev I was about to say the same thing. They had 13 on and were being realistic about it - who wants to see a great loco stall on the Lickey? Not me. I personally think that, if steam and diesel are going to live together, then this example demonstrates the best arrangement :)

  • what camera do you use?

  • like it needs a diesel =)

  • NICE VIDEO :-)

  • Wonderful video

  • There do seem to be an inordinate number of complaints about the 66 on the videos I've seen of this. That wasn't anywhere near full power. Anyway, it's completely unrealistic to expect that steam would be allowed up there unassisted, surely, and it's not every train that can be doubleheaded or be banked by steam.
