Mayor John Hickenlooper will go to great lengths (and heights) to promote fiscal responsibility. Conquering a life-long fear of heights, he jumped from a plane to illustrate the importance of a proposed statewide tax reform measure.

  • The way he's abusing and suppressing the protesters he can take a jump without a parachute far as I'm concerned.

  • He did a tandem jump and edited out the tandem master to make it look like he did it by himself.

  • @Beachman42 I have apparently offended your sensibilities in some way. Since (as you surmised) I do not live in Denver, I can not argue the merits (if there are any) of the streetcar. I was speaking in more general terms about government services that we all pay for. I have never used the fire department but I certainly don't mind paying taxes to know they're available when needed. I would also point out that civil discourse generally converts more people to your view than sophomoric insults.

  • @Beachman42 I am glad that you never have to use any government services. I can think of several government services that I would not want to be without; roads, street signs, signal lights, street lights, police, public library, schools, firefighters, parks, water, and sewer are a few that come to mind. It must be nice to never use any of these. You must let me know how you do it.

  • @Beachman42 Whoa, the money originated with you! If you can even print your own money, I guess you don't need government for anything. I mean, who needs those evil freedom-suppressing governmental institutions like the central bank that regulates the money supply... Let's abolish the government and get back to the good ol' anarchy.

  • @Beachman42 How about every single government in the history the world? Can you show the opposite: a historical example of a government NOT having taxes at all? In the magical thinking so popular nowadays taxes can be cut endlessly and somehow the government funding is not compromised. But what do you get when you have no taxes at all? Exactly, government with no money. So how can you pay the teachers and police after that? Well you just can't. No taxes = no government. It's called "anarchy".

  • it's not him!

  • ha well i must say, this one caught my eye! way to go, mayor hickenlooper!
