My personal top 10 list of the best moments of Wagner's Der Ring Des Nibelungen.

What else could it be for number 1, but the most tender and human moment of the whole opera? Wotan bids his beloved daughter farewell, he is tied down by his obligations as Guardian of Oaths, but never once is the love he has for his daughter questioned. In my opinion, both lyrically and musically, the line

  • I may disagree with some of your other top ten picks, but this one is spot on! Especially from 4:02 to the climax at 4:23--gives me chills every time.

  • My personal number one is the introduction to Siegfried 3th act, SO MUCH POWER!!! But this one is beautiful too, the gigantic Siegfried Theme never lacking its impact. Wagner has given us something which will inspire us for always and give us very much power and great emotion, love, and inspiration. But words will fall short...

  • Wow... What a perfect composition! The vocal line makes the listener feel the drama of a hard farewell. The orchestration has the right elements to make the listener imagine the scene. The melodies are so beautiful, moving and shivering!
