http://www.v8tvshow.com - Our 1965 Chevelle has a 10-bolt rear axle, and while preparing the housing for some detailing and upgrades, we show you how to remove "c" clip-style axles. This is handy if you're changing gears, differentials, or upgrading to disc brakes. It's a pretty simple trick.

  • i have a question I have a 04 silverado 1500 4.8 and got my truck re geared didn't to the spyder gears then this month I cracked one and the other well got torn up so I cant for some reason take that shaft pin out like in this video it just slides right out mine is stuck on a spyder gear that goes tru the shaft what could i do thanks anyone could help

  • @foranddustin1286- not always will you end up with a failed attempt welding spider gears.. i race stock cars on 1/4 mile track and i have raced many races i welded gears together with a mig welder and have won races on them.. never underestimate what a mig welder can do :)

  • Awesome video but I have a question. Ibown a 70 chevelle with a turbo 400 and a 10 bolt rear end with posi and 3.73 gears. I'm am currently building a true LS6 454 and was wondering if I have 2 change to a 12 bolt rear end?? Will it thrash what I have in it now? the 400 is built with a shift kit also. Hope 2 hear from you. Thanks

  • @forandustin1286 thanks, but i actually just removed the pin and both axles could be pulled out. like @xavios18 said. I thought it had something to do with a c clip which it did not.

  • @aknowneemus Look towards the hub, pay attention to whether or not its got a loose spring in between the hub and the axle itself

If that doesnt work then,im stumped.

  • @swampthing1034 Yeah, dont weld anything, you will end up with a failed attempt, unless your an amazing precision machinist. And what car, what make, what model. I dont see how youll ever use a sprocket either, oil expands when it gets hot and if you have any holes in your housing, it will leak.

  • @xavios18 I was thinking the same thing, good point

  • Great video! im thinking of using a car axle for a dune buggy by replacing the ring gear with a sprocket and welding the spider gears, since thier is no way to keep the oil in with a chain. Any advice would be great.

  • how do u remove the posi tho?
