Man what a beautiful dog. I really want to add hunting to my hobby list and I am currently looking into buying a GSP. Have any tips for me? I'm in the military so I'm more used to assault rifles and not shotguns. What types of guns would you recommend for a begginer hunter? Any other things you would recommend it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

I had this problem with my dog. Than I made some research and have discovered that, our dogs GSP, have nothing to do with a Deutsch Kurzhaar because we do not have any breed regulations for GSP but, Kurzhaar does. Therefore, GSP might have that kind of problems.
I always recommend my friends not to by GSP instead of Kurzhaar. In a next year I go to Germany to import pure blood Kurzhaar or as we call it " GSP"

I have a german shorthaired pointer named Zoey!! Man are they WILD!!! I dont use her for hunting but i let her run loose in the field with me and she does her own hunting, sometimes she brings me back dead stuff O_O

I just got a GSP named Ruger he points and everything but im having a hard time with him retreiving have any tips?

@96SGN Try making a game with a wing or toy in a hall way in the house. make a couple of tosses down the hall with all other doors closed, has to come back to you. As soon as your pup picks it up, big positive reward. It took a year before my GSP would retrieve dead birds in the field.
