Kult: The Temple of Flying Saucers (Amiga)

Here's some in-game video from Kult: The Temple of Flying Saucers - one of my favourite games back in the days of the Amiga 500. The game itself was released in 1989, and according to my knowledge, it is known as "Chamber Of The Sci-Mutant Priestess" in the USA. I much prefer the original European name myself, although both names do a pretty good job at describing how absurd the game itself is.

As far as adventure games go, Kult isn't that special: it's short (even if you don't choose to skip the first half of the game, which can be done if you know how), simple, sometimes illogical and it's got one of the most confusing background stories I've ever heard (which, of course, isn't necessarily a bad thing). Kult more than makes up for it's weaknesses as a game with it's claustrophobic atmosphere (which is whipped up by a combination of beautiful - and stylistically very original - graphics and amazing sound effects) and it's unique combination of a graphical point-and-click interface, text-adventure-like event descriptions and general visual presentation which is very much reminiscent of interactive comic books. There's something very European in this digital cocktail, something very French, I think...

This approximately ten minute clip has been crudely edited down from 20+ minutes, due to YouTube's length restrictions, and shows more or less all relevant locations of the game, plus me messing up the final mouse clicks of the final confrontation, because I forgot what I was supposed to be doing.

Thanks! I had to do this video since I couldn't find one on YouTube myself. This is one of the most amazing games ever, too bad it's too short once you know what you are doing... About 25 minutes and that's it. Since YouTube doesn't like videos over 10 minutes long, the whole video would need to be in three parts or something and I was too lazy to do anything like that yet. Maybe I'll have another go at it someday.

Awesome! I used to play this back when I was a kid. I pretty much had no idea what I was doing, all I worked out was not to kill the little guys, cos they'd eventually get angry and take their revenge! lol!

Much shorter description: FRENCH game. I'm from Belgium, and it's not meant in a bad way. We have the same background in comics and if you like the atmosphere, look into the 70's and 80's graphic novels around here : DRUILLET, MOEBIUS, CAZA. CAZA's style in particular no doubt influenced the game artwork.

i like this game back in the nineteens...but never managed to get the amazing musik at the beginning. Could you be that kind and take another shot only of the intro-pic with the full -length soundtrack?? Plz..

I agree, pls split it! I found the DOS version of this game but the sounds and graphics are severely castrated and totally takes away from the amiga version!!
