New Amsterdam Village opens its doors in Bowling Green Park, from Sept. 4 through 14, as part of NY400 Week commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Dutch arrival in New York in 1609. New Amsterdam Village showcases Dutch agricultural products and traditional crafts and puts the spotlight on the Netherlands as a world leader in greenhouse innovations and energy-saving solutions. With a windmill, a demonstration greenhouse and green roofs, Dutch food and flowers, wooden shoe-making and glass-blowing and an open air stage, the New Amsterdam Village offers a taste of what the Netherlands and the Dutch have been doing for the past 400 years. The New Amsterdam Village is open daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM through Sept. 14, 2009. Entry to the village is free.
