http://pluginforwordpress.com. There are two ways to learn how to install a WordPress Plugin: the first way is manually, using an FTP client such as Filezilla, or automatically through the WordPress Dashboard.
If you install a WordPress Plugin through the WordPress Dashboard, then you don't need to unzip the file, you simply need to click on "Plugins" on the left side of your WordPress site. So backing up just a little bit, login to your site on the backend, scroll down on the left side and click "Plugins". Next click "Add New", then type in the search query box the Plugin that you're looking for. After you type in the Plugin you're looking for click "search". It will bring back search results, then simply choose the one want.
*On a side note; the search query for WordPress plug-ins is not very accurate, if you do not see the results you're looking for, I suggest doing a search through Google for the Plugin first and then type in that exact phrase into the search query in the WordPress Dashboard. Once you've located the Plugin that you want, click on the name of the Plugin itself or click on "Install Now".
I definitely suggest clicking on the details first and finding out more about the Plugin before you install it on your WordPress site. Ask yourself, "When is the last updated version of the plug-in?" And, "How many people downloaded the Plugin?" Etc.
Once you're satisfied with the plug-in click on install now, and WordPress will automatically unzip that particular plug-in and install it in the correct directory on your website. It makes the job a little easier. The second part of installing a WordPress plug-in through the WordPress dashboard is actually using the upload button on the WordPress dashboard to upload your WordPress plug-in.
The most important thing to know about manually uploading a WordPress plug-in from your computer to your WordPress site using the WordPress dashboard is it has to be zipped.this is the main difference between manually uploading a WordPress plug-in through an FTP client such as Filezilla, or manually uploading WordPress plug-in through the WordPress dashboard. The difference is, zipped, or unzipped.
