Otzi the Iceman

The air route between Munich and Barcelona offers the potential for two straight hours of spectacular window gazing. On a recent day with a crystal clear sky I was treated to outstanding views of Toulon, Cannes, Monaco, Genoa and the Italian Alps. The path on this day also passed directly over the Eastern face of Fineilspitze. From the vantage point of 30,000 feet it was easy to trace the best path available for a man on foot to navigate through the mountains using a series of twisting valleys and accessible passes. As I studied the scene below I strained to see the precise location where Otzi the Iceman met his demise.
