What's next in the Bettman NHL? #1 Superstar Sidney Crosby dies on ice after a cheap hit? Watch this to see Sid in a Box. As a matter of fact and quite frankly (to use Gary's patented phrases),Gary's NHL=Cheap hits to the head and Fighting. Gooning it up like in Slapshot. The result? TV Ratings dropping like a stone in the US and even in Canada the TV numbers are declining. Attendance is falling badly. Since Gary Bettman took over as NHL Commissioner, the over the top cheap stuff has got out of hand and is ruining the best game in sports. Bettman's NHL has become a joke viewed in the same way as roller derby in the US except more people watch roller derby on TV. Let's hope what is shown here doesn't happen but with Bettman in Command, it may well. Don Cherry wants no touch icing and other improvements to the game; most fans agree and also want big suspensions for the goons, head shots, and fighting in hockey. Little Gary Bettman is the problem, definitely not the solution. The 2007/8 season has started off with Downie's vicious cheap shot to Dean McAmmond's head; lucky it wasn't Dean in a box too.And then the Jesse Boulerice cheap shot: the guy breaks a stick over another player's jaw and gets only 25 games?? Gary's NHL must have inspired those 8 year olds who got into a brawl in Nov. 2007 or the Mississauga Jets Midget team gooning it up in Dec 2007. Look again at the Kaberle hit: it's almost a year later and you have to think based on his play that he hasn't yet recovered from the cheap hit to the head; thanks, again, Gary from all the Leaf fans.
