Shave And A Haircut_Basics And Rendering_Part 1

Hey Guys, This is the first part of the Shave And Haircut video lesson. This 30 minute tutorial divided into 3 parts will surely get u along starting with Joe Alters Shave and Haircut for Maya. Talking about Shave and Haircut, it is a very powerful and a user friendly hair system plug-in developed by Joe Alter Inc. It has been used in many big movies like Kingkong, Hellboy, Xmen2 etc.
This video lessons will let u learn the basics of how to get started with shave and haircut and do some nice hairstyles and render them along the way.
During the whole training session, i'll also be discussing about some of the production techniques used in movies and also speak about Pixar, Disney and stuffs. After searching a lot for Shave and Haircut lessons in the internet n not getting one, i came up with this idea of creating one..I, myself learnt this and after experimenting for 4 months, i finally with my 7 other friends created a short Film "The Special Gift" where we extensively used this Shave and Haircut tool..

is it possible to do the same thing without any sort of plug-in but with the maya's basic options?

@Simone3DMaya Yeah, it is totally possible with Maya's own Hair system. But as this is a specialized Shave And A Haircut demonstration video, i haven't discussed anything 'bout Hair/Fur System..And Maya Hair is a bit heavy and its got expensive rendering unlike Shave and a haircut..

I've got a question... ahaha, i noticed you did a duplicate of the faces on which you wanted the hair to grow and you said it could be done in the model too... well my question is if i got a model which has blend shapes and i want a beard on him, obviously the cheeks and all move with the blends so... i would have to put the hair directly on the model, but what are the problems i might face with that? and the hair always grows on the vertex? or can it be scattered over the surface too? Thanks

It is very hard to pay attention while the music is playing. Dear Imdvirus, please don’t include music in tutorials in the future, unless you use it at the beginning, at the end or if you want to emphasize something very important.
