  • I completely disagree with your theology. Jesus did not have to use lazurus:heaven and rich man:hell to tell the masses that even if the dead returned to the people about the place called hell, they will not repent, pray, etc. There are so many other ways Christ Jesus could have delivered the punch line as you call it. Obviously there is a place call hell or else Jesus would have never mention such place in the first place. Where did it go?

  • @Str8Prayze - Dear STR8,

    You are free to disagree.

    God bless you,

    John Schoenheit

  • Why do those who support the traditional view of hell as eternal conscious torment resort to the argument that God is a just judge, as though eternal conscious torment is the only reasonable penalty for rejecting His gift of salvation? This puzzles me. People want to live... it is a natural human drive to live. Throughout history men have sought to find the secret of eternal life. To be judged and sentenced to annihilation is a sobering thought and much more in line with a just and loving God!

  • @dyerenator - Dear Dyer....

I agree that it would be unjust of God to burn people forever for sin. Many theologians have tried to come up with "reasons" why eternal torment is just. To me, all the reasons fail miserably. An example of one is: if you sin, you sin against an eternal God and break an eternal command, so you must be punished eternally. To me, that is stupid. But bad theology dies hard. Let's just keep promoting the truth.

    Blessings,

    John

  • The subject of: "Is there a Hell" can't be completely handled from this section of scripture alone and/or whether you believe it is a parable by Jesus or not. This subject is intertwined with other beliefs, like: "life after death" and people's "near death" experiences. Those subjects also have to be addressed to fully expose the devils lie - i.e., that "You shall not surely die". We need to see the entire scope of scripture and learn from it, not just "cherry pick" the verse we like.

  • @moogandfender - Dear Moogandfender,

I agree that you cannot cherrypick the Bible. That is why I wrote a whole book on the subject, which you can order off our website, and a multi-hour seminar, Death and Resurrection to Life, which is free to you also on our website. The book is: Is There Death After Life.

    God bless,

    John Schoenheit

  • Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Also read Rev 14:11 So can you explain these verses with your beliefs? Not saying your wrong or right, but your belief doesn't seem to line up with these verses. THANK YOU!

  • @Str8Prayze Remember that annihilationism doesn't necessarily deny Hell, just the idea that it is eternal conscious torment.

  • I am in no way attacking you here, but seriously, how can one come to the conclusion that a parable is in no way to be taken seriously. I agree, a parable is a story, kinda like a fable to explain something morally. And also, this parable is the ONLY parable that mentions a name, being Lazarus. Also, take into account that the lake of fire, the torment expressed in the parable, is yet to even be used. Hades, when cast into the lake of fire comes later, so yes the parable is not literal. Respond?

  • @TruthOrTradition I'm inspired by your response to Str8Prayze :) I've found myself in terrible debates that didn't have to go as horrible as they did. Thank you for a nice example of how to depart myself from that kind of stress in the near future:).

  • Thankyou Joshua. Everytime I study this subject including others commentaries, I get more and more logic to support this biblical belief. It amazes me that most Christians and the churches are so blinded to it,because it is supported throughout all scripture.

  • @cptnavman What a good point! Thanks for posting.

  • Also I would like to point out. Since when did Jesus ever use a parable that was based of a REAL situation? Never! They were all metaphoric. They were Stories he told to give those who would listen a chance to understand. These were stories they weren't real event's. If you remember Lazarus came back to life. He might have also used Lazarus name because word was getting spread around that Jesus raised him from the dead. This story had a purpose. When you're seperated from God. End of Story!

  • @pmjhns amen brother you know the truth!

  • amen br couldn,t agree with you more!!

  • @watfordssermons Regarding the statement "God is loving is also just and demands judgment upon sin. while yes Christ received that punishment for sin upon the cross..." If God is just and His Justice demands eternal torment for our sin, then Jesus would have to suffer eternal torment for us to be fully redeemed. Yet he was in the heart of the earth for only 3 days.
