  • Did you guys use all of that gear or was it just in case.

Ropes, harnesses, etc... Did you travel in roped teams at any point. I want to do a winter ascent of Washington so I was just wondering

  • well, you see us putting the skis on, then we used crampons to get up the rest of tuckerman's ravine. we didn't use skis going up the Jewell Trail area. The ropes and the other gear was used. there is a shot of practice how to self arrest with an axe. we also expected it to be windy when we got to the summit in the later part of the video. We did practice 3-man rope teams in our base camp.

  • @goglianu07 I wouldn't bring up a rope or harness up lions head trail. Thats pretty unnecessary. Unless you are doing a gully, its just extra weight. There are obviously no crevasses on mount washington so you do not need to rope up. I would definetly practice self-arrest but its not a hard concept. Also make sure not to trip on your crampons cause you could have a nasty fall at some parts.

  • @goglianu07 I'm glad you practiced the 3-man rope and self arrest with an axe. Not many people think you need it or it's to silly to do it. Theses people don't understand if something happens you are the person going to do the SAR because of the weather.

  • that was a great adventure good video and why using rope in that time

  • im 12 yrs old and im goin there this summer ive got experiance tho since i have climbed Mt.Marcy at least a few times and so i hope i dont die..... lol

  • You shouldn't worry. If you get Snowblind, Black Sabbath is there to save you!

  • I have been to NH 3 times so far but I had a nightmare about falling in a snowbound ravine so I dont think Ill ever make it up there not even in summer!

  • Unless you're going up Huntington Ravine, ropes and climbing gear aren't necessary.
