  • Do you mean, endangered 'zebra' scheme?

  • Well that too, but CN is getting rid of the SD50s/60s.

  • Boing, boing, boing! I like seeing those classic CN units better than an IC, WC or GTW repaint.

  • Yeah, same here, but I'll still take a regular IC GTW or WC over these guys!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks!

  • CN's SD60's are terrible, terrible units when they are in idle while travelling at higher speeds. They bounce around like you wouldn't believe. It gets worrysome at times.

  • hydraulic suspension haha

  • @yodonvito4 No, the C40-8M's are staying. They knocked em down to 3400hp tho.

  • The verticial (up and down) bouncing is really no concern. The suspension just takes the impact of the bounce. It's the side to side that causes wrecks.

  • @Guilford88panam it almost brings me back to when my dad worked for the CNW and the Rock Island was still running. i can remember going down to visit the Rock with my dad in the late 70s, i was a kid back then but i still remember the train rock-in-and-rollin. they need to sand blast those engines and paint one red and yellow, and the other maroon and yellow-and we would have a modern day rock island.

  • @BNSFrailfan all of us here in Chicago are waiting for the big one, my house is now covered on 3 sides of the CN. i used to operate trains on this line under CC&P railroad. it was amazing on how bad the track was when they bought it in 1985, something like 400 some slow orders-and watch it be revamped by CC and GE capital- i dont remember how many slow orders there were in the last year 1995 but im sure it was atleast a dozen. when CC resold or from 92-95 we did 49mph, never bounced or rocked

  • what a shame

  • @Guilford88panam If anything the engineer was probably fighting off the urge to knock be rocked to sleep. Seriously. Sometimes the cab motion has a tendency to just lull you to sleep.

No...this crew was doing a good job moving a train over track equipped to handle this tonnage at this speed. It's not perfect track...but it's not alarming.

  • @ic6071 I heard they are keeping the 60Fs????? i know all the 50fs are gone now

  • COWLS ON THE PROWL!
