Witness - John and Rachel: With or Without You

This video focuses on the relationship between John Book and Rachel Lapp. They want to be together but they cannot because Rachel is Amish and John isn't (obviously).

I love this film and it's one of my favorite Harrison Ford movies. He received an Academy Award nomination for his performance in 1985. Kelley McGillis was fantastic too. Hope you enjoy the vid. Please rate and leave a comment

this movie touches on a lot of fascinating themes yet it not one of his more well known movies. Some of the themes include the authentic yet impossible love between two people from different worlds, the idea of forbidden love, the contrast of the simpler life vs the complexities of modern society, the corruption of authority, the ability to overcome evil by standing firm, the innocence and authenticity of a boy, the struggle for living one's true hopes vs the traditions of their society etc...

I hate the ending to this movie. She should have had her bags packed, got Samuel, said goodbye to grandpa and told Daniel to get lost. I read the script online and aso the little book put out after the movie. They made love when she went out to him fixing the birdhouse. Great movie would have liked a better ending. Oh, they filmed the explicted love scene, but it hit the cutting room floor and was not put in the movie. Would have loved to have seen it.

Love like this comes around only once, if even then. He should have went to city, gathered up his stuff or gave away and came back and lived with her in an Amish lifestyle.

@knownpleasures Yes. I read this recently too. However, their love was never consumated or  the never had sex in the movie. I think the movie could have been better if they had got together in the end.
