Love, Lust, And Broken Hearts- Chapter 38

Everyone gathered around Jake's TV, and watched the ball drop. I was on the edge of my seat, exactly one minuet till 2010.
The whole senior class shouted the coutdown, as I sat in between Joe and Jake on the couch. Nick sat next to Joe.
"Ten...Nine...Eight...Seven..." We all chanted. I gazed into the TV. Time square in New York city seemed the best place to be right now. The snow, lights, sky scrapers. But even though I was only in New Jersy, it was still just as nice.
"Six...Five...Four..."
My stomach screamed with excitment, my heart fisting out of my chest.
"Three...Two...One!" And then, it happened. The whole house erupted into applause and cheers. Chugging down beers, and shots of tequila. I screamed with excitment, and wrapped my arms around Joe's neck. Joe pulled Nick into the group hug, and we embraced for God knows how long.
I pulled back, and out of the corner of my eye, millions of people in Times Square cheered, all the time I looked into the warm hearts of Joe and Nick.
It was finnaly 2010. Everybody left Jake's house after about an hour, while Nick, Joe and I stayed back to help Jake clean up the cluttered mess of bottles and food.
"Yes, clean at last." Nick murmered, and fell back on the couch next to me, while putting his arms behind his head.
"Eat this suckers!" Joe jumped from the stair case. He attacked Jake with silly string, and then sprayed toward me. It stuck in my hair, and I giggled. I hid myself behind Nick, so he was laying on his back against me on the couch. Joe sprayed the rest of the can over Nick, and then threw the cans into the trash can.
"I am so awesome." Joe smiled. Nick lifted himself off of me, and walked up to Joe. Silly string covered Nick's body from head to toe, and stuck to his hair as if the string were his own curls.
I laughed at Nick's apperance, but shut my mouth shortly after. Nick grabbed Joe by his wrist, and bent him over. He landed a sharp, hard smack to the seat of Joe's jeans. Joe yelped, and Nick took himself to eye level with Joe.
"Now, clean this up. We worked very hard to get this place clean." Nick sternly wispered. I shook at the tone in his voice. All Jake did was chuckle at the whole incident, and came and sat next to me on the couch.
"When did this all start to happen?" I asked Nick politely. Nick looked up from his gaze at Joseph, who was cleaning up silly string off the floors, and smiled at me.
"About a week ago. It's the only way to get him to listen."
I giggled slightly as I saw Joe's cheeks turn red with embarrasment.
"I'll be right back." Nick mumbled, and walked up the stairs to the bathroom. After Joe finnished cleaning, and Nick came down stairs clean, we decided it would be best if we went home.
"Coming, Beth?" Joe asked, holding my jacket up to me.
"I can't find my purse." I mumbled, my eyes scanning the room. I lifted pillows, checked under blankets. Nothing.
"I'll just take her home when she finds it." Jake smiled to Joe and Nick. Nick nodded, and I exchanged 'I love you's as they walked through the front door. I continued to pace around Jake's living room, for any possible
place my purse could be. But I bumped right into him, and fell backward. I closed my eyes, expecting the impact of my back hitting the floor, but it never came.
Jake's body was bent over mine, his hands behind my back. He held me in his arms, making sure I wouldn't fall.
I looked up at him, and my vision focused to his hazel eyes. The gold in them twinkled against the light of the TV.
My eye lids slowly began to close as our faces grew closer and closer together.
His lips pushed softly against mine, and my heart practically fluttered out of my chest.
Jake set me on the floor lightly, and layed next to me, never once breaking the kiss.
He ran his hand over my cheek bone, carressing the goosebumps that formed on my skin. My arms looped around his neck, and I pulled him closer to me.
"Where," I pecked him on the lips, "Have you," Then again, "Been my whole life?" I wispered so softly, that I was even surprised Jake could hear me.
"Right here."
