Hi everyone!
It´s been a while since i uploaded a TAS, but now im back with and old school space shooting game some of you have seen before.
The Guardian Legend is back again, but this time for some serious buttkicking.
I uploaded a TAS of this game earlier this year, but i personally dont consider that as a real tool-assisted speedrun since it wasn´t a speedrun even if the description said "TAS" (which i changed).
I used save states and slowmotion from time to time during that sloppy "tool-assisted playthrough" which was only ment to be a "no hit" playthrough.
This on the other hand is a real TAS, save states and slowmotion are used all the time in this speedrun, i take damage to save time and even at times i didn´t need to but did it to make the speedrun a bit more interesting since i at times dont have any health left but still pulls of a victory.
However, there are somethings like always that could be done better.
I´ve been quite busy these few days so i had to rush this speedrun a bit, which ended with some minor things i´d like to change now.
But im still satisfied with this run, the minor things i´d like to change may not be noticed by most people since it dont look lazy, but by a perfectionist it´s annoying lol.

Are you formiliar with this game?
If not this is what the game is all about.
*Story*
This game is about a chick named Miria (Alyssa in JPN version), she is the guardian of earth.
When the star named "Naju" is about to hit earth with an alienlifeform, Miria is sent of to save earth from being invaded.
She must battle her way through 10 corridors(there are 21 but only 1-10 are required for you to finish the game) which have a seal that must be destoryed.

This game is so underrated, the music and the gameplay are just amazing.
If you have not played this game, go and do for the love of god.
I recomend it, and i even think James Nintendo Nerd would like it, even with some minor things which sucks.
One thing is the password system, i cant tell you in words how fucked up it is, but is sure sucks buffalo ass.
The other thing is the ending, this game is quite long so you really deserve more than the game gives you after beating it.
Those are 2 minor things i would complain about, other than that this game is excellent.

What can i say about this speedrun? Well it is the only one of it´s kind out there, the only TAS on the internet.
Check it out and enjoy every part of it.

  • Well this is a first... for me atlest. i never seen a speed run in this game at all. if you did the game 100% it would took nearly 3 hours. well for me atlest.

    Great videos man! 5/5

To bad this game is so underrated it's such a amazing game. would be nice to see a remake or a another game. To bad compile is no longer around

  • I have only seen one speedrun of this game before, and that one was un-assisted and finished in over 1 hour and a cople of minutes.

100% speedrun of this game yeah, it would take some time indeed.

This game is great, and like you said very underrated.

Not many ppl watch these videos on YT, only becouse they dont know anything about it.

There should be a remake, cool to see this in better graphics and with a better ending.....and not with that damn password system lol.

  • If I'm right, you're only required to go through Corridors 1-10, no?

  • That is correct, and ofcourse corridor 21 which is the last one.

  • Î really like such games. ^^

  • This game is awesome, but long game, especially if you want to do a 100% TAS.

This game is not 100% though, i skip most parts since it´s only a waste of times to go through all corridors when you dont need to.

  • I don't really remember how I stumbled across this game. I just saw it, played it, got a game over during the first flying mission 'cause I thought you had more than one life, and I was like "hell naw, you ain't beating me that easy." This game was incredible, even compared to today's standards, let alone the 8-Bit days.

  • Great game. Nuff said.

  • Well, it looks like I know what I'm doing for the next hour. Seriously, what an amazing game that has seemingly been forgotten and gotten nowhere near the amount of praise it deserves. I didn't think there would be a speed run for this out there, so huge thanks for that. I still remember playing this 15 years ago like it was yesterday.

  • Thank you for putting this vid up :)

  • I'd beaten it like 1000 times before, plus i wish they made one for Wii, now that would be sweet!

  • haha yeah, it would be wicked to see like a 16 bit or even a 64 bit version of this game. i rather keep it to a 2D side scroll if they ever did remake it. but chances of that happening, but you never know. some random people may pick it up one day.

plus going to keep this into 1 post lol and not 2 this time.

yeah the Select, then Select+start thing will take a few times to get use to it. i remember my friend saying "Stop that! i want to see her transform!"

all and all such a amzing game.
