  • god bless yer Rory, you were a true gent, one of rock n rolls finest, play one more for me up there will yer mate?

  • I'm a MASSIVE Rory fan. He's the reason I started playing the guitar years ago! I haven't heard him playing this song until now. It's incredible!! I feel pure Irish pride just listening to him. I'm from Ireland aswell born and raised :)

  • @Dulcimo More than owes a little. The words are taken straight from the Scottish song "Braes of Balquhidder" basically verbatum. It leaves some words out and changes the order of the verses but that it just about it. The tunes are not the same though they are similar. It's debateable as to whether it was a new tune or just one that improved with the folk process.

  • Excellent! ...And surprisingly modern, according to Wiki. It was written in N Ireland in 1957, but owes a little to an older Scottish song. Thanks again

  • HUGE THANK YOU!
