Philadelphia Zoo Changbai Update 4/30/11

Changbai's limp is becoming less and less perceptible every week. And, as you can see in this video, it is hardly perceptible at all when she walks upward on a slope.

@leopardgecko45 No, I don't work or even volunteer at the Zoo. I am just a member of the Zoo who has visited the Zoo at least once a week for many years! The Zoo does not let visitors hold, touch, or feed any of the animals.

@leopardgecko45 I'm glad you enjoyed your visit! It's always good to hear from people who love reptiles. A lot of visitors won't even go in the Reptile and Amphibian House!

I will try to record more videos of the giant river otters now that I know they are your favorite.

@ZooVisitorMM i just got back from the zoo and it was amazing!!!!I liked seeing the king cobra(i love reptiles).I also loved the meercats,they were so cute!My favorite animals were the otters though

@leopardgecko45 (continued) For the same reason I like the sloth and aardvark exhibit areas in the Small Mammal House.

The addax, gazelle, giraffe, zebra, and rhino areas also have no fences or barriers to look through. Those areas all have moats that separate visitors from animals.

I like some aspects of Big Cat Falls. But the glare on the glass makes it difficult to see the animals on bright sunny days. And, of course taking photos or videos is even harder. And glass is a sound barrier.

@leopardgecko45 I think the best parts of the Zoo are the McNeil Avian Center and the African Plains sections along the main pathway behind it. There are so many beautiful birds in the McNeil Avian Center. And, of course, my special favorite, Gertie (the curassow) is in the Tropical Rain Forest section. I like the Tropical Rain Forest section because there are no barriers at all between visitors and birds. continued ...
