  • @Danielezerable my point exactly. Jesus died and was born to eternal life where He can and does still hear us...the same place where the saints are... where they can and still do hear us. If you don't believe Jesus or the saints can hear us because they have died in this world, then ask yourself why Jesus--knowing He would die--proclaimed Himself to be the way to the Father. Obviously He would have to be able to hear us even after death.

  • @CatholicSuperFreak One must also prove that these saints can even hear your prayers. I will now use the Bible to show that the prayers are uneffective anyways. Luke 23:43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (At death.)

    Where did Jesus go?

Revelation 1:18 am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.

Hence, Jesus went to the place of death. That is also where ALL saints go as well.

  • @Danielezerable fell down and WORSHIPED him...that's the key word there. But bowing down does not ALWAYS mean worship =)

  • @Danielezerable There is no wrong in asking others including Mary and the saints to pray for us to Jesus. Check out Acts 12:5 "but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church." Mary and the saints can go to Jesus in the same way we can, but we know they are special intercessors because they have found "favor" with God. see Luke 1:28. Would you ask your father's neighbor to ask for a favor for you or would you ask his best friend to ask him for the same favor? Its the same concept.

  • @CatholicSuperFreak Funny you would mention "bowing down to someone in the Bible". Let's see what Peter did when it happened to him :)

Acts 10:25-26 As Peter entered his home, Cornelius fell at his feet and worshiped him. 26 But Peter pulled him up and said, “Stand up! I’m a human being just like you!”

I'm sure Mary and any other saint would say the same today.

  • @Danielezerable hence we do not bow down in WORSHIP of them. If bowing down in honor was the same as bowing down in worship, don't you think Jesus would have said something about the kings in the Bible whose subjects bowed in front of them as an act of reverence/subjectivity/honor/respect?

  • @Danielezerable If YOU consider any outstanding leader to be an idol, then YOU might call Mary and the Saints idols, but in the traditional sense of the word, idol means something that is worshiped or held in as high esteem as God. We don't believe Mary or the Saints have powers like God, we believe that because they are close to God, they are good advocates and intercessors...they can ASK God to help us just like you might ask someone on earth to pray for you (ask God something for you).

  • @CatholicSuperFreak "The Rosary is a request to have Mary pray for us." Wrong Jesus says we only come to the Father through Him and Him alone!

John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.

  • @Danielezerable repetitive prayer. While we pray each decade of the Rosary, we meditate on 1 of the 15 different mysteries. Like reading the Bible repetitively still brings new food for thought, so does meditating on the mysteries. The Rosary is just another of the many forms of prayer. It is not an end-all, it is simply one more way to draw closer to God and meditate on the life of Christ.

  • @CatholicSuperFreak Jesus is not our brother. Jesus is our Lord. He is God in the Flesh. We are to worship God and God alone. The only One deserving of our praise is God. And Jesus forbids the calling of people "Father" in Matthew 23:9. If you want to contend that a priest is a "Father", then read the following:

Revelation 1:6 He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.

Should we all have the title "Father" then?
