@bugz2grrl I don't really think they do an ID check..... but I think underage drinking isn't considered as much of a problem in Japan as in the USA.

@yellowwproductions Actually they DO do an ID check now, you need to get a special card, using your ID of course from a store that sells them... then all you do is keep it in your wallet and simply wave your wallet near the sensor surface of the ID checker on the machine and you have your beer or cigarettes!

Somebody might argue that people can sell their 'ID cards' to youngsters, but if you've ever been to Japan you would know that there isn't nearly as much crime there as in other countries.
