This is a shoot we were asked to do for a Russian couple's 10th wedding anniversary. We had a very limited space in which to set-up and shoot, and it was pretty obvious that we would have to shoot 'by-hand'. Fortunately, two of our most experienced shooters ('Od' and 'Lung') actually prefer shooting by hand, and so they were the obvious shooters for this display... under the auspices of Senior Team Leader - 'Nu'. Shooting by hand obviously presents a higher risk factor, due to the close proximity to the fireworks, so everything was double, treble, and quadruple checked... with the last check (as always) going to Laarn. Her attention to detail, and commitment to safety, makes her the ultimate 'site safety expert'... so her word goes!! The shoot was set-up so that the clients, having rather a good time at a party in the house further up the mountain, could obviously get the best view of the shoot. However, the only place that I could video the event was, literally, right under the display! This meant that I didn't get the best view, and the video doesn't really show the 'multi-layer' effects of the fireworks, or the spread of sky that the show took up. Just before the shoot started, everyone was 'evacuated' from the shoot area, except Od, Lung, and myself, and the surrounding area of trees and shrubery was liberally doused in water from a hose - to prevent any potential ground/tree fires, and, during the shoot, one of the team stood-by with the hose, and another with a fire extinguisher... just in case! The clients seemed to enjoy the display (you can hear the screams of delight inbetween the 'booms'!), which, at the end of the day, is what counts most.... if they are happy, we are too! Sorry the view isn't perfect, but I hope you still enjoy the show!
