El Pinto had some surprise visitors yesterday when Republican Presidential Nominee Senator John McCain and running mate Governor Sarah Palin showed up Sunday Afternoon. We had about 30 minute notice that the "McCain express was on the way and the flurry of secret service made it inevitable that they would be here shortly. Two days before we knew that we would be serving the press crew and staff on the respective charter planes and although we always think that just maybe we could get a special visit, we remained cautiously optimistic. The senator was a true gentleman and expressed to us that he had heard from many colleagues in Washington that El Pinto was the place to be if you are in New Mexico. We were also very impressed with Governor Palin. She made time to talk with many of our guests and was very sincere. They each purchased a few jars of El Pinto salsa and said that they looked forward to their next visit. She preferred the mild salsa and Senator McCain wanted the hot. Since my brother Jim and I spent many years in Alaska, it was easy to make conversation with Todd (Palin). We asked him if was ready for the new way of life and he said that he was excited about it. We are very pleased that El Pinto is the place for everyone to have a good time and relax with your friends. Come on down and hang out with us. You never know who's going to show up.
